About Me? Let’s see…

My name is Dan, and God found me at the age of nine when I was locked in a freezer at my friend’s house. I prayed, screamed, pushed for what seemed liked many hours, yet no one found me. I began to get sleepy and uttered one more prayer from John 14:14 that a Presbyterian VBS teacher once taught me. I heard a click, the lights came on, and the door opened. I had been rescued! I stepped out and I was utterly elated to be alive. I was ready to celebrate. There was only one problem…no one was there. The house was empty. The lock and the handle on the freezer were intact, nothing broken. I had just been through a great trauma, but this was equally traumatic. I ran home and with great emotion told my Dad everything that happened. We didn’t go to church then, but he told me about Christ, and I didn’t hesitate to give my life (In my mind, my life had ended in that freezer UNTIL God heard me). I went to school and told about Jesus for “show and tell” time. I asked to go to church, told the preacher what happened, and he gave me a gospel tract. I saw a pile of them, took them, made all my friends kneel and pray, and then we got on our bikes and went to every house until we ran out of tracts. I just figured that everyone ought to feel as good as I did about going to Heaven.

Love this Dan. Thank you so much for your insight and for sharing it.

This is powerful, Dan. The response that kept going through my mind when asked how we know that Jesus loved the Father was this. I know that I loved my earthly father with every fiber of my being. If I can love my imperfect human father with that much love, how much greater must Jesus’ love for His perfect, sinless Father have been. Just as I showed love to my father by my obedience, Jesus showed His love for His Father in the same way.
I am humbled to think about how very blessed I was to have such a wonderful picture of my Heavenly Father in my earthly father. Thanks for the reminder!

Kay, that is beautiful. Your father was a gracious godly man. I have wonderful memories of those days. Thanks for sharing that; we were both blessed to have such fathers. Say hello to your mom and sisters for me.

  3. Wow Dan,
In all the years I have known you, I have never heard this before.
However, in all the years that I have known you, I can say that I’m glad that we are both still “Stooges Fans.” Hey, you have to be if you are going to be writing this serious stuff!
So write on brother. We need the insight!

I thought everyone knew that story! I do tend to focus on what God is doing now, rather than looking back too much.
You would be proud that my kids are Stooges Fans as well. I raised them right! Some of my 5-year old’s first words included, “Nyuk, Nyuk, Nyuk!” She is very good with impersonations too!

  4. Great testimony, Dan.

  5. for some reason I am not able to comment on your latest post. Just wanted to say, awesome work. I may not agree with the analogies but I get what you were trying to convey. Made me think 🙂

    God bless you.

Thank you for your posts…I just discovered them today. I have not read all of them yet of course, but I wondered if you found answers to the questions you asked in the Joseph Prince grace post. I have recently discovered his teachings and they ring true but I have the same questions.

    Thank you!

You’re welcome! Your timing is interesting because I haven’t paid anymore attention to Joseph Prince until this weekend. I haven’t been able to complete my questions yet, but I will probably go back and look at what I was asking and do some more ruminating. Thanks for your comments, and I hope to start writing again soon.

New reader. Appreciated “The first person to be filled with the Spirit” and look forward to reading more of your work. I sense we will gave several points of agreement.
